Victoria Monet Phoenix Concert reviews
STAR WARS in Concert.
The amazing Orchestra led by Dirk Brosse at the October 8th STAR WARS in Concert at the Nokia Theatre was pitch perfect and flawless. I can't recommend it enough, especially to fans of STAR WARS and the mesmerizing music of John Williams, of any age. Anthony Daniels was an exemplary emcee, endearing and funny at times. The event was about 2 and a half hours with a 20-minute intermission. I would've personally have liked to hear about 5-6 more tracks from the Original Trilogy.
The event was not without its "technical" difficulties. The screen playing back footage from all 6 films would intermittently "tear" (an obvious vertical line would appear). The image froze for several seconds during a critical moment in the score, especially during the first hour. Also, in general, the edited film pieces were oddly arranged. Sequences and shots from the 6 films were edited together without much care for the timeline and continuity. There was quite a bit of reused footage, startlingly considering the 12+ hours of footage to cull from. Perhaps it was hastily put together or not properly QC'd? These are minor quibbles and should not deter anyone from experiencing this unique event. Especially since, as I already stated, the reason you would go this in the first place was the truly remarkable Orchestra.
